About Us
When we made a commitment to one another and moved into our home the purchase of a dog was top priority. Having researched the gundog breeds and reflecting on dogs we previously owned, we decided on the Weimaraner.
Karen as an adolescent showed dogs and I was always off hunting and fishing we therefore required a dog as a family pet also a dog to show and equally important to go hunting. It was the weimaraners versatility and obvious good looks that won the day.
Having purchased Gunalt Samco from Stephen and Patsy Hollings (Leeds, England) we were fortunate to experience success in the show ring. This ignited Karen's keen interest in showing and temporarily interfered with my hunting, as Karen was worried that Mickey (Gunalt Samco) may get injured before a show. Fortunately for me in the nineties in Ireland gundogs could only achieve the title of champion. This means any gundog with a certain amount of wins in the show ring had to obtain a gundog working certificate in the field to gain the title of champion. Thanks to this rule I was able to pursue my interest in hunting with Mickey (Gunalt Samco).
Obviously our interest in showing and hunting was encouraged by Samco's achievements so we decided upon our affix ZILVEREIN.
